The Meiwa Kumquat is a lesser known species of kumquat similar to Nagami Kumquat in appearance. They are semi-dormant in winter and can withstand below freezing temperatures. The fruits are bright golden Orange at maturity and are small but larger than Nagami. They produce few seeds, are acidic and highly fragrant and are meant to be eaten fresh. Meiwas have a healthy and strong root system which helps the fruit stay firmly on the tree.
