Parsley is an herb from Southern Europe and grows 1 and a half to 3 feet tall. Two kinds are commonly grown, curly-leaf and flat-leaf. Flat-leaf is stronger in taste and Curly-leaf makes an attractive garnish. Parsley has an excellent flavor and can be placed into nearly any meal and is a must in salads and sandwiches. Parsley grows quickly and can become quite large, some stocks getting as thick as 2 inches!
Best site: In sunny location or partial shade. Parsley is a strong plant and will grow in any climate that is not too extreme.
Quantity: Up to 6 plants per box and generally intermixed with other herbs.
Pruning and training: Make sure to cut parsley back often, it can grow quite large and shade out surrounding plants. It will produce heavily and will often time end up as a gift to the neighbors!
Time to harvest: 3 weeks and on throughout the growing season.
Harvesting: Snip off leaves as needed. When shading other plants from large growth, snip stems from the bottom making space for neighbors.
Pest control: Regular applications of neem oil is recommended.
