The Cocktail Grapefruit also known as the “Mandelo” is a medium to large fruit with a thin deep yellow skin and heavily seeded flesh. It was developed in the 1950s as a hybrid of the Siamese Sweet Pummelo and Frua Mandarin of the Tangerine variety. It is a premium juicing grapefruit making it ideal for beverages and cocktails and is also good for eating fresh. The Cocktail Grapefruit tree is best grown inland but does well all over Southern California.
